Please register and the Zoom link will be sent to you prior to the event. \nhttps://hkuems1.hku.hk/hkuems/ec_hdetail.aspx?guest=Y&ueid=74190 \nIn February 2021\, The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries published a review report: “Missing Opportunities: A Review of Gender Diversity on Hong Kong Boards.” The report\, which was co-authored by Peter Greenwood FCG FCS and Mohan Datwani FCG FCS(PE)\, found that only one-in-seven directors of listed companies in Hong Kong are women. Accordingly\, a  ‘Call to Action’ was issued for the regulatory imposition of a 30% target for women on boards of listed companies over a six-year period. In this seminar\, the speaker will present the myriad of perspectives gathered from different stakeholders in the writing of the report; detail how Hong Kong compares to other markets; and highlight the importance of addressing gender diversity in board membership. \n(https://www.hkics.org.hk/publication_details.php?menu_id=6&sub_menu_id=0&nid=2462) \nMohan Datwani FCG FCS(PE) is a Solicitor\, Accredited Mediator\, and Governance Professional\, who has had a distinguished career in the legal profession\, as a Global Partner of a leading U.S. international law firm\, and General Counsel of a listed company. He is currently the Deputy Chief Executive and a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) and The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI)\, which represents Chartered Secretaries and Chartered Governance Professionals. At HKICS\, he uses his applied business and legal skill sets to promote good governance by setting technical standards and networking with aligned stakeholders\, including regulators. He also contributes to international thought leadership projects and research in collaboration with CGI\, as part of a global governance profession\, and serves on a number of Government boards\, including that of the Equal Opportunities Commission. \nJackie Wang is a PhD Candidate in the Department of History\, School of Humanities\, HKU. Her research interests include gender and business history\, specifically researching female entrepreneurs in modern China from a transnational perspective.
