We are delighted to report that Dr. Brenda Alegre has attended the “UN Trans Advocacy Week 2018” which was held from 17 June to 22 June 2018, gathered together 23 transgender activist from 19 countries for the 38th Session of the Human Rights Council in the United Nations Office at Geneva.

The campaign was co-organized by Asia Pacific Transgender Network (APTN), Global Action for Trans Equality (GATE), the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA World), Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Rights (RFSL) and Transgender Europe (TGEU).

Dr. Alegre has been active in activism and rights advocacies for LGBTQ and Women in both the Philippines and Hong Kong. She is also one of the Trans Secretariat of ILGA – the International LGBT Association as well as board of director member for STRAP – the Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines. She was representing ILGA and STRAP to participate in the advocacy week and to give speech for the sexual and transgender issues, in order to advocate for their rights at the United Nations.
