A Woman Is A Woman is about two transwomen––an adolescent and a middle-aged woman––who crave for understanding and acceptance in a hostile social environment. Both have to overcome the prejudice of others to find happiness in themselves. By interweaving the stories of these two characters who struggle to be themselves, the film helps the audience understand and empathise with transgender people and their quest for acceptance. This is a ground-breaking film about trans characters from Hong Kong with women taking all the key production roles.
